在1951年ValetChair侍從椅剛發表時是有四隻腳的模型，丹麥國王KingFrederick IX 訂購了這一款式，但HansJ. Wegner 並不覺得當時的作品是完成的，等待了兩年他以去掉一隻腳的方法來減輕整件作品過重的感覺，最終設計出完美的三隻腳ValetChair給國王。Wegner 這件作品選用松木作為主要材料，希望可以讓人們知道即使是使用一般認知為較差的木種松木，若是在設計及工藝上多盡一分力，還是可以成就一件完美的作品。而Valet Chair最一開始的構想是「在睡前以最實用的方式來折疊衣服」，雖然它只是一把椅子，但掀開座墊後，卻可以容納一位男士整套衣物掛放在上面。上半部是完整的衣架可以吊掛西裝外套，褲子則可以掛在掀起來的椅板頂端，且依舊保持筆挺，保留摺痕；椅座下的空間更可以儲物，充滿高度實用機能。
